Jaygaon: Bhutan Gate has been closed for the last 12 days due to infection with corona virus. However, despite the lockdown issued, cars from India were being traded for long. From Monday, the Indian administration stopped the movement through Bhutan Gate. Though the administration has not stated the exact cause, the decision has been taken by the administration to prevent the spread of coronas across the country. This morning, the police of Joygaon Police Station in the GST corner of the Asian Highway started stopping small pans of cars.
On the other hand, the Bhutan administration has been in trouble due to the shutdown of the Bhutan Gate. Indian highways are used to travel from one end of Bhutan to the other. During the lockdown, on average, there were around 5 freight cars going to Bhutan every day. Again some of Bhutan’s administrative vehicles entered India for so long. According to sources, the decision was taken to seal the Bhutan border soon after the reservation of emergency goods in Bhutan for a few days. Additional Superintendent of Police Joygaon Kantal Bandyopadhyay said Bhutan’s border has been sealed for an indefinite period, at the behest of senior authorities.
