Three arrested with 13 deer antlers at Madarihat,Alipurduar

Madarihat, Aug 18: SSB 17th Battalion and Jaldapara West Range forest personnel arrested three youths with 13 deer antlers on Monday evening (17th Aug).

On the basis of secret information, Falakata 17th Battalion SSB and Jaldapara West Range forest personnel in a joint operation managed to arrest them from Rangalibajna area under Madarihat PS in Alipurduar district of West Bengal.

Sikandar Ali, a resident of Dighalatadi, Azizul Haque, a resident of Singimari and Babla Barman, a resident of Sonapur have been arrested along with a vehicle with 13 deer horns and a motorcycle.

Devdarshan Roy, Assistant Wildlife Conservator of Jaldapara National Park, has filed a case against the smugglers under sections of Indian Forest Act 1927 and Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The accused smugglers will be sent to the ACJM2 court in Alipurduar on Tuesday. According to SSB sources, the smugglers were arrested while smuggling it to Rangalibajana from Sonapur.
